New Lunches & New Venue - Dimboola Bowls Club 2024

We are thrilled to announce that our winter lunches this year have a new venue. We have moved from the VRI Hall in Dimboola to the Bowling Club! It's wonderful to utilise another local venue and showcase all the beauty that Dimboola has to offer.

The Bowling Club boasts a beautiful, cosy layout with central heating and, wait for it... a dishwasher. We love a dishwasher!

So far, we have hosted two Sunday lunches with varying menus.

Our first menu for May 12th:

  • Saltbush arancini with bush oregano tomato relish
  • Karkalla, chicken, and pork terrine with quandong, muntrie, and finger lime relish
  • Bower spinach and chèvre cheese cannelloni with quandong and roquette salad
  • Saltbush and macadamia lamb with fried chickpeas, lemon myrtle & honey labneh, potato pavé, and bush food greens
  • Muntrie and chocolate pudding with strawberry gum cream
  • Honey Basque cheesecake with quince and wattleseed crumble

Our second menu for Sunday, May 19th:

  • Saltbush arancini with bush oregano tomato relish
  • Wattleseed and goat cheese twice-baked soufflé with lettuce
  • Lemon myrtle chicken, karkalla, and basil tart
  • Beef bourguignon with Geraldton wax mashed potato and bush food greens
  • Muntrie and chocolate pudding with strawberry gum cream
  • Honey Basque cheesecake with poached pear and wattleseed crumble
  • The only thing I miss about not hosting these lunches at home is being able to take our guests around the garden to see where most of the produce comes from.

Food Preparation Process:

  • We start food preparation for our lunches on Friday, finalizing components on Saturday.
  • On Sunday, I start the morning around 4:30 a.m., making the bread, finishing packing, and picking the herbs and other produce from the gardens.
  • Then, I head down to the Bowling Club at 9 a.m. where my mum meets me to help set up the tables.
  • The rest of the staff arrive from 10 a.m. onwards.
  • These are big days, but it is worth it when you see the elements finalized on the plates for our customers.

We will be hosting another lunch on June 2nd, which is nearly fully booked. The next one will be in late July or early August. Thank you to all our beautiful customers for their support with our lunches!
